  20. Our 2 Sportster Vi's have problems negotiating v.42 when connecting to 
  21. non-USR modems.  Haven't tried Multitech, but the problem is definately 
  22. there connecting to several other modem brands.  Try AT&M5 so it assumes 
  23. the other modem has v.42 without going thru the detection phase.  This 
  24. works most of the time for me.
